The Congregation Diptych

In the Orthodox church, prayer is ranked most important for establishing a connection with God, and for manifesting  before divinity our thoughts, feelings and conscience.

Asking God's help, both for us and our loved ones, we fulfill the greatest commandment of Christianity, the commandment of love - to love your closest as you love yourself.

Therefore, in the church, the priests and believers prayer is a community prayer, which involves everyone, even those who are not present at the divine services. Therefore, the dypthic is the expression of love both for our closest and the ones who are suffering.

The dypthic to enemies is not a prayer to ask God to punish them , but only to correct their mistakes.
